One of my favorite ways to begin the day in Buena Park is with a good breakfast.

Whether you prefer a famous local bakery or a hearty American brunch, Buena Park offers two excellent ways to start your morning.

Porto's Bakery & Café is famous throughout Southern California for its fresh pastries, Cuban sandwiches, potato balls, and delicious coffee. It's often busy, but there's a good reason—locals and visitors alike keep coming back.

If you're in the mood for a classic American breakfast or brunch, Broken Yolk Cafe is another great option. Their pancakes, omelets, breakfast burritos, and generous portions make it a perfect place to fuel up before a full day of exploring.

Whether you choose Porto's or Broken Yolk, you'll be starting your Buena Park adventure the right way.

After breakfast, take a few minutes to explore a quieter side of Buena Park—its history.

Just across from City Hall stands the Whitaker-Jaynes Estate, home to the Bacon House, built in 1884, and the Whitaker-Jaynes House, completed in 1887. These beautifully preserved homes offer a glimpse into the city's earliest days and remind visitors that Buena Park has a rich history beyond its modern attractions.

Right next door is the First Congregational Church of Buena Park, officially established on September 5, 1888, as the town's first church. Its classic architecture and peaceful setting make it a worthwhile stop, even if you're simply admiring it from the outside.

Just a few minutes from Buena Park's Historic District is Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, one of the city's most recognizable attractions.

Inside the castle, you'll enjoy a four-course meal while watching knights compete in jousting, sword fighting, and horseback competitions. It's a fun and memorable experience for families, couples, and visitors of all ages.

Since moving to Buena Park in 2008, I've seen Medieval Times remain one of the city's most popular attractions. Whether it's your first visit or you're returning with friends and family, it's a unique way to spend an evening and experience something a little different from a traditional dinner.

Just a few minutes from Buena Park's historic district is the attraction that put the city on the map—Knott's Berry Farm.

What began as a small berry farm in the 1920s has grown into California's first theme park, welcoming millions of visitors each year. Today, it's known for its thrilling roller coasters, family-friendly attractions, live entertainment, and the charm of its historic Ghost Town.

Whether you're an adrenaline seeker looking to ride HangTime, Xcelerator, and Silver Bullet, or you're visiting with young children for Camp Snoopy, Knott's offers something for every age. And no visit is complete without tasting Mrs. Knott's famous fried chicken or one of the park's signature boysenberry treats.

Living in Buena Park has given me the chance to experience Knott's in every season. Each visit feels a little different, whether it's the Boysenberry Festival in spring, Knott's Scary Farm in the fall, or the festive lights of Knott's Merry Farm during the holidays.

One of the things I appreciate most about Knott's Berry Farm is that it isn't just about thrill rides. The park has something for everyone, making it a destination families can enjoy together.

Take a walk through Ghost Town, where wooden buildings, old-fashioned storefronts, and live entertainment bring the spirit of the Old West to life. Younger visitors will love Camp Snoopy, while roller coaster enthusiasts can experience attractions like GhostRider, HangTime, Silver Bullet, and Xcelerator.

Even if you don't ride every attraction, simply strolling through the park, enjoying the atmosphere, and stopping for a famous boysenberry dessert makes for a memorable day.

One of the reasons locals return to Knott's again and again is that the park changes throughout the year.

🌸 Spring brings the popular Boysenberry Festival, celebrating the berry that helped make the Knott family famous. Guests can enjoy creative food, live music, and seasonal entertainment.

🎃 Fall transforms the park into the legendary Knott's Scary Farm, one of the world's best-known Halloween events, featuring haunted mazes, scare zones, and live shows.

🎄 Winter welcomes Knott's Merry Farm, when thousands of lights, festive decorations, holiday performances, and seasonal treats create a magical Christmas atmosphere.

No matter when you visit Buena Park, there's a good chance Knott's will be celebrating something special.

After a day exploring Buena Park's history and enjoying the excitement of Knott's Berry Farm, I like to slow things down at The Source OC.

Located just a few minutes away, this modern shopping and entertainment destination has become one of Buena Park's most popular places to spend an evening. Its open-air design, restaurants, cafés, dessert shops, and entertainment make it a great place to relax after a busy day.

The Source is especially well known for its Korean dining options. Whether you're looking for Korean barbecue, fried chicken, hot pot, coffee, or shaved ice, you'll find plenty of excellent choices under one roof. Even if you're not shopping, it's a pleasant place to walk around, grab a drink, and enjoy the atmosphere.

One thing I enjoy about Buena Park is how easily you can experience both sides of the city in a single day—from historic landmarks and classic theme park attractions to a modern dining and shopping destination like The Source OC.

Free public parking is available throughout much of Buena Park.

If you're exploring the Entertainment District without entering Knott's Berry Farm, you'll often find convenient public parking near Rock & Brews and in the public parking lot behind Medieval Times. From there, several restaurants and attractions are within walking distance.

Guests visiting Knott's Berry Farm should plan for paid parking unless it's included with their admission or season pass.

Weekdays are generally quieter than weekends, especially outside of school holidays and major seasonal events.
